As I wondered about what my goals would be for 2019, I reminisced about the past year. My memory showed me another wasted year. I had made a promise to myself that in 2018, I was going to rid myself of my lazy and sloppy personality and emerge a new woman. However, I had no motivation to drive me so I failed horribly. As I thought about what went wrong, I came to realize that I needed some MOMENTUM and real MOTIVATION. Now in 2019, I’m going to try and reform myself again but now I have those two factors that I didn’t possess before(motivation & momentum). I also hope to inspire any females who might share my feelings and who desire to change their lives for the better by inviting them to read my journey through my chapter articles. Seeing as this is the beginning of a brand new year, my first chapter is henceforth named…
New Year, New Beginnings
The year 2018 is GONE! Any excess baggage you may have, negative feelings……..TOSS THEM OUT NOW!!! I have learned many important things in my life and one most important thing is this: “Keep it IF it will be of use in your future..if not, get rid of it because it will only be a distraction( “IT” can be anything in your life ). Having a clear mind and the ability to think clearly at all times is a surefire way to achieve your goals. If you have a life changing New Year’s resolution like me, then the first thing you should do is identify your goals and put them on paper with pen. This may not be an easy task for some and it may be time consuming, but if you are really committed and want to achieve your goals..it is well worth your time. The actual model to get you started will appear in chapter 2.
MOMENTUM & MOTIVATION: The Dynamic Duo
These two factors are very important in your New Year’s resolution goal setting because they do the following: Momentum is the incentive to get you started( the beginning of your path) and Motivation is what keeps you moving towards your goals, no matter what obstacles may try to block your path. Momentum can come from any number of events, it serves as the reason you begin the journey. Examples of momentum include a new year beginning, moving to a new place, a new job, ending a relationship, loss of a loved one, etc. Momentum can be both positive or negative. A warning…be careful when using negative momentum as a spur towards your goals because if your central focus dwells on your negative feelings, it will prove to be a powerful distraction. The idea is to actually direct your focus to achieving your goal so that the negative events DON’T repeat themselves. Motivation, however, is a whole different story. Go ahead….read on……..
MOTIVATION, MOTIVATION….it may be something that many people misinterpret. The suitable definition of motivation is the “substance” that causes an individual to act towards a desired goal or simply put, the reason for your actions towards a certain goal. A person’s motivation is their question as to why they want to achieve this or that goal. Even though I can explain to you what motivation is, there is one thing that I can’t tell you and that is what your motivation SHOULD be. I have no power over that decision…it is something that you must decide for yourself. Want to know my motivation? Ok, my motivation is a special someone that I want to be a permanent part of my life. My motivation may not be reality yet, but my goal is to change myself for this special person so that my motivation will be reality and that is what drives everything I do. Now, once you have your motivation…hold it tight and never let go. Your motivation is the light that guides you on your path towards your goal; if you let the light guide you…you will achieve your goals in a reasonable time frame. If you lose your motivation…..you set yourself up for failure.
